Frequently asked questions

What is "V-Veil UP2"?

"V-Veil UP2" is a self-sampling device used to collect the DNA and secretion in the vaginal cavity.

What is the purpose of the test?

To detect an imbalance in vaginal flora or the presence of agents responsible for vaginal infections.

Who should use this test?

"V-Veil UP2" can be use by women themselves and could be easily implemented in national cervical cancer prevention programs with molecular diagnosis.

When should a vaginal test be taken?

This test should be carried out by women between the ages of 30 and 65, according to OMS recommendations.

What are the certifications of the product?

V-Veil UP2 is manufactured in Europe in accordance with the applicable provisions and requirements of REGULATION (EU) 2017/745 and complies with the requirements of EN ISO 13485:2016.

What is the clinical performance of our test?

The cancerous genome can be detected up to twice more with V-VEIL UP2 as compared to the classical method. Collect more DNA (+500%)

Who is prohibited from using this product?

Women who are under 18 years of age; who have a fever or flu-like symptoms, even mild ones; who have already suffered a toxic shock syndrome; who are allergic to plastics and their derivatives; who have bleeding; who are pregnant.

Is there any recommendations of use?
  • Do not use if you have had sexual activity in the last 2 days.
  • Do not use if you have washed the vaginal cavity within the last 48 hours.

I am menopausal, should I use your self-sampling?

It is essential to continue cervical cancer screening with the HPV test until the age of 65, after which your doctor will decide whether it is necessary.

What is an HPV test?

The HPV test is a molecular biology examination that detects the presence of papillomavirus DNA in cervical cells and highlights the possible presence of oncogenic HPV.

How HPV is transmitted?

Some are transmitted by skin contact and infect the skin, while others, potentially more dangerous, are sexually transmitted.

How long does HPV last?

HPV infections can last for years, and also give short infections, with the virus disappearing in a few months.

Does HPV equal cancer?

Not all HPVs are associated with cervical cancer. Only so-called high-risk HPVs (more commonly known as HPV-HR for high-risk HPV, or oncogenic HPV) are screened, as they can cause cellular abnormalities leading to dysplasia*, and then cancer (it takes a few years).   Today, there are more than ten HPV-HR types (16, 18, 31, 33, 35, 39, 45, 51, 52, 56, 58, 59, 68). These are the ones we look for in your HPV test.

At what age can I take my first test?

The latest WHO recommendation of July 2021 proposes to start testing from the age of 30 for women presenting no *risk (*Only your doctor will be able to define this). Your doctor may have another opinion if they deem it necessary, because they know you. In some countries, the age is 25. In the event of an abnormal result, your doctor will ask you to undergo further tests to rule out the diagnosis of (pre)cancerous lesions.

What is the difference between a self-sampling test and a smear test performed by a doctor?

Both tests can detect cervical cancer without any problems.

HPV SELF-SAMPLING:  You take the sample yourself, simply by using the V-veil-UP2 self-sampling veil.  This HPV test detects the presence of the Papillomavirus. It only looks for viral DNA to detect HPV. Only in the event of a positive result will a further cervico-uterine swab need to be taken by a doctor, so that the appearance of the cells can be analyzed under a microscope.

THE SMEAR:  Cervico-uterine sampling is carried out in gynecological position, using a speculum and a medical sampling device. Your gynecologist, GP, midwife or laboratory will then take the cervico-uterine sample. It will enable microscopic analysis of cell appearance.

Is there a vaccine?

Yes, there are vaccines against HPV infections designed to prevent cervical cancer. Vaccines do not protect against all HPV types and have no therapeutic effect on existing lesions. Screening examinations for cervical cancer remain indispensable. A smear test is recommended every 3 years for women aged 25 to 65.

The cervical cancer is a preventable disease when diagnosed early

The papilloma virus is a virus able to induce cervical cancer and it exist several different kinds of genotypes.
